Phosgo FAQ
1. What Does “One Month Charge-Free” Mean?
“One Month Charge-Free” does not mean the bike takes one month to charge.
It means that under typical commuting conditions, the Solar Wheel Charging System continuously replenishes energy and significantly reduces battery consumption.
For example, the Go6 Pro offers up to 105 miles of battery-only range. Under favorable sunlight conditions, the Solar Wheel Charging System can add up to 17 miles of riding range per day.
Assuming a typical daily commute of 20 miles, the bike is only consuming about 3 miles of net battery range per day. At that rate, a fully charged battery can last up to approximately 35 days before requiring plug-in charging.
Actual results vary depending on sunlight conditions, terrain, riding habits, and daily mileage.
2. How Does the Solar Wheel Charging System Work?
PHOSGO features a Dual-Mode Solar Charging System.
• Riding Mode – Solar energy directly supports the electrical system while riding, helping reduce battery consumption.
• Parking Mode – Solar energy automatically charges the battery while the bike is parked outdoors.
The entire process is automatic and requires no rider intervention.
3. How Much Energy Can the Solar System Actually Generate?
PHOSGO uses four integrated 50W solar panels with a total rated power of 200W.
Under favorable sunlight conditions, the Solar Wheel Charging System can generate up to approximately 50Wh of energy per hour.
Assuming about 3 effective sunlight hours per day, the system can recover approximately 150Wh of energy daily.
Based on average pedal-assist energy consumption, this recovered energy can translate into up to 17 miles (27 km) of additional riding range per day.
PHOSGO is not designed for fast charging.
It is designed for less charging.
4. Why Doesn’t a 200W Solar System Recharge the Battery Quickly?
Depending on the model, PHOSGO battery capacities range from 360Wh to 840Wh.
The Solar Wheel Charging System is not designed to rapidly recharge a large e-bike battery. Instead, it functions as a continuous energy-harvesting system that recovers energy every day.
The more important metric is not how quickly the battery charges, but how much riding range can be recovered over time.
Under favorable sunlight conditions, the system can add up to 17 miles of riding range per day and significantly reduce charging frequency.
5. How Much Charging Current Does the Solar System Produce?
The solar panels generate electricity that is regulated by an integrated MPPT controller, which optimizes energy harvesting and converts it into a stable charging output.
Under typical operating conditions, the MPPT system delivers a stable charging current of approximately 1.5A.
While this is lower than conventional wall charging, the system continuously harvests solar energy throughout the day, helping reduce battery consumption and charging frequency.
6. Why Place the Solar Panels on the Wheels?
The wheel is one of the largest continuously exposed surfaces on an e-bike.
By integrating solar technology directly into the wheel structure, PHOSGO creates a practical and elegant way to harvest solar energy without requiring bulky external solar panels or trailers.
The result is a cleaner design, improved convenience, and seamless solar energy collection.
7. Does the Solar System Work on Cloudy or Rainy Days?
Like all solar technologies, solar power generation depends on available sunlight.
During heavily overcast or rainy conditions, power generation may be significantly reduced or temporarily unavailable.
This is a characteristic of all photovoltaic technologies.
To ensure reliable operation in all weather conditions, every PHOSGO bike includes a standard charger that allows the battery to be recharged from a regular wall outlet whenever needed.
8. Are the Solar Wheel Panels Durable Enough for Daily Use?
Yes.
The Solar Wheel Panels are engineered for real-world riding environments and designed to withstand daily use.
They are resistant to vibration, impacts, scratches, and changing weather conditions while maintaining long-term durability and performance.
The Solar Wheel Panels are designed for long-term outdoor use and tested under real-world riding conditions.
9. Do the Solar Panels Keep Generating Power While I Ride?
Yes.
When riding under sunlight, the Solar Wheel Charging System continues generating electricity.
During riding, the solar-generated power directly supports the electrical system and motor, helping reduce battery consumption.
This allows riders to recover energy while they ride and improves overall energy efficiency.
10. Can the Bike Charge Itself While Parked Outdoors?
Yes.
When parked outdoors under sunlight, the Solar Wheel Charging System automatically generates electricity and charges the battery.
Many riders naturally leave their bikes outdoors during work, school, shopping, or daily activities, allowing the system to recover energy while parked.
11. How Powerful Is the Motor? Is It Suitable for Climbing Hills?
All PHOSGO models are equipped with Bafang mid-drive motors.
Because a mid-drive motor works through the bike’s gearing system, it can maintain better torque and efficiency on steep climbs compared with hub-drive motors.
Depending on the model, PHOSGO delivers up to 150 N·m of torque, providing strong climbing performance for hills, bridges, and varied terrain.
12. What Rider Height Does PHOSGO Fit?
Go2 (frame size:27.5”)
Recommended rider height: 5’2”–5’10” (158–178 cm)
Go3, Go5 Classic, and Go6 Classic (frame size:700C)
Recommended rider height: 5’5”–6’3” (165–190 cm)
Go5 Plus, Go5 Pro, and Go6 Pro (frame size:29”)
Recommended rider height: 5’7”–6’4” (170–193 cm)
13. Can I Ride the Bike in the Rain?
Yes.
PHOSGO production models are designed to meet IPX6 water-resistance standards for everyday riding conditions.
The electrical system, battery system, and Solar Wheel Charging System are engineered for outdoor riding, including rain and wet-road conditions.
However, prolonged submersion or high-pressure water exposure should always be avoided.
14. How Far Can PHOSGO Ride on a Single Charge?
Depending on the model, PHOSGO offers up to 105 miles of battery-only range.
Under favorable sunlight conditions, the Solar Wheel Charging System can add up to 17 miles of additional riding range per day.
As a result, the maximum daily riding range can reach up to approximately 120 miles.
Actual range depends on rider weight, terrain, weather conditions, riding style, and assist level.
15. What Makes a Mid-Drive Motor Different from a Hub Motor?
A mid-drive motor drives the bicycle through the drivetrain and gear system, allowing it to operate more efficiently across different riding conditions.
Compared with hub motors, mid-drive systems generally offer better climbing ability, improved weight distribution, higher efficiency, and a more natural riding feel.
This is one reason why PHOSGO uses Bafang mid-drive motor systems across the lineup.
16. Why Is It Called an AI Solar E-Bike?
